Indians can now sleep the ultra-luxe way as world-class bespoke bed manufacturer Savoir enters the doors of India. Synonymous to comfort, magnificence and creativity, Savoir has launched its first exclusive showroom in India at The Gallery on MG, in Delhi. The launch was in the presence of renowned Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty and Alistair Hughes, Managing Director, Savoir. London based Savoir Beds has an international reputation for crafting the finest handmade mattresses and beds in the world.
Sharing his views Alistair Hughes, MD, Savoir says, “One of our main objectives in this market will be to shift perceptions. People spend thousands of Euros on a watch and more on a car but are reluctant to invest in something that they spend a third of their life in. This is not about selling beds; it’s about selling great sleep.” “Over the last decade, India has seen an increase in customers who are sophisticated, well-traveled and discriminating in taste. Savoir Beds custom creates beds for the most exclusive and discerning clients and hotels in the world. Our mattresses are custom made with all natural, superior materials, crafted by one artisan from beginning to end, as per the individual body needs of each client,” he further added.
Costing in a range between INR 6 lacs to 35 lacs, the beds come with a long and distinguished heritage. The company was originally commissioned in 1905, by Savoy in London (the world’s grandest hotel of its time), to produce the Savoy mattress. The brand will be retailed starting April 2011 exclusively in The Gallery on MG, New Delhi. The collection is a must for the astute consumer who seeks the finest indulgence without compromising on quality and the discerning experience that makes a luxury brand much sought after.
Over the 20th century the company built up its association with some of the world’s greatest hotels. This heritage is unique amongst bed manufacturers and has given the company an unparalleled opportunity to fine tune their beds in an extremely demanding environment. Founded in 1905, London based, Savoir makes luxury bespoke beds, sold to individuals and to some of the world’s most iconic hotels including the Presidential Suites in the Four Seasons New York and the Royal Suite in the revamped Savoy Hotel, London. Savoir Beds have showrooms in Central London (at Harrods), Harrogate, Birmingham, Prague, Berlin, Paris, Moscow, New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Scottsdale and India now in India (at the Gallery Mall on MG, MG Road).
Savoir beds use natural materials, such as horsetail, wool and cotton which breathe well and make excellent mattress filling, versus the commonly used foams, latex and memory foams which do not breathe well, so they can become sweaty and also deteriorate over time. Savoir Beds go back to 1905 when the No 2 bed became known as ‘The Savoy’. The company was bought by the Savoy Hotel in the 1930’s and remained within the group until 1997 when it regained its independence. |
